CSA association in the cloud: AgroMart gains a piece to articulate communities

Abner Filipe Cunha Ribeiro and Rafael Leão Teixeira de Magalhães defended at FCTE/UnB an undergraduate thesis expanding AgroMart to link CSA associations in the cloud — an important step in consolidating the platform.

A Community-Supported Agriculture group works because a small set of people decides to collectively sustain a rural producer. When several CSAs need to articulate — to buy together, to negotiate as a block, to share delivery infrastructure — the original software starts to show its limits. These are the limits Abner Filipe Cunha Ribeiro and Rafael Leão Teixeira de Magalhães raised in the undergraduate thesis defended in December 2023, advised by Prof. André Luiz Peron Martins Lanna .

The work adds to AgroMart a CSA-association module in the cloud, responding to a need that only surfaced once the platform was adopted by real communities. It is a fair metaphor for the software’s own path: it starts as an MVP for a simple use case and evolves, cycle by cycle, as the user base discovers its own organizational needs.

By pairing software architecture with concerns of digital transformation in cooperative economics, the thesis contributes to turning AgroMart from a local app into a network platform — a shift that changes the reach of the project’s social impact.
