IA-QVT: an accessible tool to measure quality of work life

Talking about quality of work life sounds like consensus — until someone asks how to measure it. The undergraduate thesis defended in October 2022 by Gabriel de Jesus Carvalho at FCTE/UnB tackles that distance between discourse and instrument, and answers with IA-QVT — advised by Prof. Fabiana Freitas Mendes .
Recent years pushed to the center of debate the effects of contemporary work dynamics on the physical and mental health of software workers (and not only them). While concepts such as Activity Ergonomics consolidate in the labor sciences, the instruments to operationalize them in practice tend to be dispersed and poorly accessible. IA-QVT emerges to fill that gap: a tool that supports collection and processing of QVT data, with special attention to including people at different levels of technological familiarity.
The choice to bake accessibility into the tool’s core matters for the software quality argument the thesis makes: a measurement instrument only produces reliable data if everyone can actually use it.
