Two variables move independently and yet meet at a point: the country is ageing, and the frontier of what counts as “good quality” in software interfaces keeps shifting. The undergraduate thesis defended in 2023 by Guilherme Daniel Fernandes da Silva and Lorrayne Alves Cardozo tries to understand how these two trajectories relate — using data from the TIC Household survey, advised by Prof. Marília Miranda Forte Gomes with co-advising by Prof. Ricardo Ajax Dias Kosloski .
The work begins by operationalizing a question usually treated by opinion: to what extent do contemporary software quality practices respond to Brazilian demographic reality? With TIC Household data as the basis, the duo investigates use and difficulty patterns involving the elderly population and proposes readings that cut across aggregated data.
The result is a support piece for discussions usually kept abstract: accessibility not as checklist compliance, but as an empirical response to the real profile of those who reach the system.
