App supports gamified HCI course: a thesis delivers a tool built for the real classroom
Ítalo Alves Guimarães defended at FCTE/UnB an undergraduate thesis implementing an application to support the gamified Human-Computer Interaction course — a piece the very use in class had been asking for.

Brasília, July 24, 2023
There is a structural difference between gamifying a course on paper and sustaining it in day-to-day operation — when fifty students need real-time feedback, points must be counted without error margins, and the instructor cannot turn into a spreadsheet-keeper. The undergraduate thesis defended by Ítalo Alves Guimarães in July 2023 delivers the instrument that difference demands, under the advising of Prof. Sergio Antônio Andrade de Freitas .
The work implements an application to support the gamified Human-Computer Interaction course offered at FCTE/UnB. It is not a generic tool: it is an instrument born of use, shaped by prior rounds of gamification applied to that specific setting. This marriage between Gamification and active learning is what produces relevance — because once daily friction is removed, the instructor is freed for what technique cannot replace: mediating learning.
