AgroMart is born: a duo introduces a platform for family farming in a 2021 undergraduate thesis

Family farming accounts for a significant share of the food that reaches Brazilian tables — yet it still runs into intermediaries who capture value and separate producers from consumers. The undergraduate thesis defended in May 2021 by Lucas Pereira de Andrade Macêdo and Lucas Siqueira Rodrigues proposes one piece for that gear: AgroMart — advised by Prof. André Luiz Peron Martins Lanna .
AgroMart is conceived as a platform to connect small farmers with consumers looking for organic and artisanal products. The direct-to-consumer choice is not merely ideological: it responds to a market design in which the value generated in the field dilutes along the way. The duo builds the solution in JavaScript, prioritizing lightweight applications and an architecture that can grow without compromising access.
This is also the seed of a continuing thread: in 2025, another duo — Kalebe Cunha and Murilo Santana — returns to AgroMart to migrate the infrastructure to serverless and cut costs. It is the mark of a project that begins as a thesis and becomes an ongoing research field, crossing Green Software with educational applications and social engagement.
