Latte: a duo trains a gamified chatbot to help write scientific articles
Luiz Henrique Fernandes Zamprogno and Victor Eduardo Araújo Ribeiro defended at FCTE/UnB an undergraduate thesis introducing Latte — a gamified chatbot to support the production of scientific articles.

Brasília, December 20, 2023
Writing a scientific article demands a kind of attention a generic chatbot cannot sustain: it requires rigor, structuring, and revision discipline. This is the support band the undergraduate thesis defended in December 2023 by Luiz Henrique Fernandes Zamprogno and Victor Eduardo Araújo Ribeiro tries to occupy, introducing Latte — a gamified chatbot developed under the advising of Prof. Sergio Antônio Andrade de Freitas .
The system is built on the Rasa platform and integrates natural language processing resources with gamification elements crafted from the Octalysis Framework. The methodological choice is meaningful: instead of treating the chatbot as pure conversational resource, Latte relies on GCMP — Gamified Chatbot Management Process — to orchestrate the interaction flow, keeping the author engaged through stages commonly abandoned in academic writing.
By tying AI and NLP to Gamification , the thesis enters a debate that gained weight from 2023 onward with the popularization of LLMs: how to reduce the friction of scientific writing without outsourcing thinking? Latte’s answer is indirect and specific — instrument the journey, do not produce the text.
