Young Brazilians reach adulthood with little fluency in personal finance — and the cost of that deficit shows up in credit card interest, poorly planned debt, and career choices made under financial pressure. This structural problem is what the undergraduate thesis defended in September 2022 by Rafael Santos Teodosio responds to with a technology, advised by Prof. Sergio Antônio Andrade de Freitas .

The $tudy system emerges from a twofold base: literature review of gamification frameworks — with special attention to Octalysis — and a canonical software engineering build, with requirements engineering and implementation. Choosing gamification is not decorative: learning about finance requires repetition, decision-making in consequential scenarios, and fast feedback — three things well-designed games handle particularly well.

By pairing Gamification with financial education — a rising agenda in schools — the thesis contributes to a still-incipient EdTech market focused on this theme. It is a work that bets on small daily gestures as a way to reduce an educational debt that runs across generations.
