INPI grants software registration for FCTE Student Support

The FCTE Student Support software (registered at INPI under the name @FCTEBot) received a computer program registration certificate granted by the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) under process BR512026003515-5, published in the Industrial Property Gazette (RPI) No. 2889, dated May 19, 2026.
The product was developed by Breno Henrique de Souza and Giulia Domingues de Alcantara, under the supervision of Prof. George Marsicano Corrêa , within the Artificial intelligence and data analysis for digital transformation project. The registration was granted with Fundação Universidade de Brasília (UnB) as the rights holder.
The software is a virtual assistant on Telegram that centralizes and streamlines access to administrative and academic information at the School of Sciences and Engineering Technologies (FCTE/UnB). It uses AI with a RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) approach supported by a vector knowledge base to retrieve relevant content and generate more accurate natural-language answers. The main goal is to reduce dependence on in-person and registrar service, increase student autonomy, and shorten the time to find essential information (enrollment, internships, SIGAA, hours crediting, etc.).
The product contrasts with static systems, confusing forms, and long searches on SIGAA, offering a simple, accessible, and personalized conversational experience, with optional handoff to a human. In user evaluations, the chatbot was rated more functional and intuitive than the official portal. More information is available on the product page at CEDIS .
The INPI registration secures legal protection of the computer program for 50 years, as established by Law No. 9.609/1998.
