Launch Center: when static analysis stops being a gate and turns into a journey

Lucas Pereira Gomes Linard qualified at PPCA/UnB the professional master proposing the Launch Center, a gamified engagement layer — anchored in the Octalysis framework — to reverse, at the team level, the chronic buildup of quality issues in banking environments governed by static analysis.

Large banks use static analysis as a pillar of quality governance — with one recurring consequence: the tool acts as a late delivery gate, not as a continuous incentive. A one-year longitudinal observation of the Banco do Brasil low-code platform ecosystem, conducted by Lucas Pereira Gomes Linard, shows that most projects do not reduce their inventory of non-blocking SonarQube issues over that horizon. That diagnosis is the starting point of the proposal presented at his professional master qualification, defended on June 30, 2026 at the Graduate Program in Applied Computing (PPCA/UnB), advised by Prof. Sergio Antônio Andrade de Freitas .

Under a design science strategy instantiated as an industrial case study, Lucas proposes the Launch Center: a gamified engagement layer operated at the team level and anchored in the Octalysis framework, which complements the institutional Release Engine without altering its formal quality controls. The design is articulated by three converging evidence streams — a Kitchenham-protocol systematic review (51 primary studies included), an institutional code quality diagnosis supported by an annual trend of static analysis, and a developer motivational profile obtained via Octalysis assessment with four specialist judges and via an adaptation of the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (53 valid responses).

The Launch Center materializes seven design principles, seven cooperative mechanics, and three protection mechanisms into a journey organized across the four phases of Octalysis Level II, with emphasis on white-hat core drives and on exclusively symbolic rewards. The central thesis is that the lever is not more control or more alerting, but structured team motivation — natural territory of Gamification and of software quality as an engineering discipline.

The qualification committee was chaired by the advisor and composed of Prof. Dr. Paulo Miguel Torres Duarte (University of Évora) and Prof. Dr. Letícia Lopes Leite (PPCA/UnB). As continuity, the candidate proposes an evaluation protocol for a controlled pilot inside the organization, to be executed in the post-qualification work as an empirical test of the hypothesis.
