Overview

Ongoing project. Period: 2021-present.

AgroMart is a free software platform that helps family farmers — especially those organised in Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) groups — promote and sell their produce. It began at a University of Brasília hackathon in 2020 and has evolved ever since as a long-running teaching and research project: each undergraduate thesis picks up the existing codebase and delivers a new layer — infrastructure, payment methods, co-farmer management, development process, accessibility.

That continuity is the project’s defining trait. Eight theses defended between 2021 and 2025 share the same codebase, which makes AgroMart both a social software product in use and a laboratory on how to sustain university open source projects in the face of contributor turnover.
